Benton Students Attend GATE Academies at Cerritos College, July 2010
Several Benton students were selected to attend one of two GATE Academies held at Cerritos College this July, 2010! Students were taught by Cerritos College professors and adjunct professors to kick-off the summer vacation.
In the Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Design Camp, students designed an electronic image of a three-dimensional object they desired to manufacture. They then used specialized equipment to create a prototype of their object, before producing their creation as a final product.
Students in the GATE Summer Institute were taught Biology and Physics along with gifted students from the middle schools in Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. This was the second year these opportunities were made available to Benton students. The project is funded by our district, in collaboration with Cerritos College, and Cal State Long Beach.
