Good morning and Happy Monday.
It looks like we will have slightly cooler weather for a day or two and we may even see some blue sky. A very welcome change, indeed.
Feel free to join us for Coffee with the Admin on Tuesdays at 8:00 AM.

In the unlikely event that you are your kids are experiencing any stress or possible anxiety during these great times, our district has set up a Virtual Calming Room. This site is for students, families, and staff of our NLM community to find tools to promote resilience and wellness. Try an activity once a day or more if you like. This can help you feel more calm and prepared for you daily tasks. https://sites.google.com/staff.nlmusd.org/nlmusd-virtual-calming-room/home
A grade update was emailed out last week. This is the same information that you can access through PowerSchool and Schoology at any time. I know that in the hustle and bustle of life these days, it is easy to miss some grade information, so this was just a courtesy. Over the years, parents comment that while they really like being able see their kids grades, they are really glad online grades were not available when they were kids. Hmmmm. We used to stress about grades four times a year. Now, we stress about grades nearly every day. As we all help our kids through Distance Learning, it is easy for us (the parents) to become so invested in our child's work that we somehow believe their grades are some reflection of us. There are lots of things to be stressed about these days (please see the Virtual Calming Room above) and please keep proper perspective on grades.
Extra time does not mean unlimited time. Our teachers have extended most deadlines for students but that does not mean kids can turn in work whenever they want. Oddly, many students who turn work in late expect the assignments to be graded on time. Late assignments tend to get "out of the grading rotation" and it can take a while for a teacher to circle back around to assign the work a grade. We expect our teachers to have assignments updated by the end of the official grading period (October 9).
School pictures have arrived! For parents who ordered an actual picture packet, the office will be contacting you in the next few days to remind you about the pictures. Feel free to come to the school office any time between 8:00 and 3:00 to pick up your pictures. For parents who did not order pictures (yet), we have an envelope with a code for you to still order pictures. Again, feel free to stop by any time between 8:00-3:00. For students who missed pictures, we will be scheduling a make-up day in the weeks to come.
Parent Conferences will be held virtually the week of October 19-22. We will be sending out information in the coming weeks on how to sign up for a conference time with teachers. We just wanted to put this on your radar.
May your cup overflow with an abundance of grace to yourself and to others.
