8th Grade End-of-Year

iPad and Book Return/Chromebook Pick-up on Thursday, May 27.  All students returning to an NLMUSD High School will need to swap out their iPads for their new Chromebooks.  Students will also turn in their textbooks at this time.  Students will be able to access all their normal documents from their Chromebook.  We have the rotation set up so students will not miss any class time.  Here is the rotation for when to swap out your device and return your books:

  • Cohort A--9:00-11:00 in the MPR
  • Cohort C--9:00-11:00 in the MPR
  • Cohort B--11:15-12:30 in the MPR.
  • Students NOT returning to an NLMUSD HS--June 2 in the Front Office

 

Virtual Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 27 at 6:00.  This event will be pre-recorded and a link will be sent out and it will be posted on our website.

 

Promotion Practice will be on Friday, May 28, starting at 9:00 AM for all 8th grade students.  After entering campus, please head to the basketball courts for Promotion Practice.  Our practice will conclude at 11:45.  Please arrange for how  you will get home after 11:45 AM.  Please see the information below:

  • What to bring--A mask, a hat, a bottle of water, sunscreen
  • Cohort A Checks in at the gate next to the Bike Racks
  • Cohort B checks in at the gate in front of the office
  • Cohort C checks in at the sliding gate in the main parking lot

 

8th Graders Report to Benton at 8:45 at the same gate as Promotion Practice.  Students will assemble on the blacktop until the Promotion Ceremony begins.

 

8th Grade Promotion will begin at 10:00 on Tuesday, June 1.  Here is some basic information regarding the ceremony:

  1. Every student will be issued TWO seats for promotion.  

 

  1. Our plan is to record the ceremony and play it later in the day. 

 

  1. All seating will be pre-assigned. 

 

  1. Temperatures will be taken and masks will be required. 

 

  1. After the ceremony has concluded, students are dismissed and Cohorts will be sent to designated areas where you will meet your student. 

 

  1. No noise-makers or balloons will not be permitted in the promotion area.  Umbrellas will be okay due to the seating arrangement.

 

  1. Parking is first-come, first serve. 

 

  1. Because of the seating restrictions, we cannot allow for strollers in the promotion area.  Children under the age of two may sit on an adult's lap, but they must be supervised at all times.

 

  1. The Dress Code is semi-formal.  When selecting attire, please be mindful of proper footwear and hemlines (as students will be standing above the audience).
